Supporting the local community

All profits made by Brothers Leagues Club Townsville go back to both its members and the community. Our club supports local community organizations through sponsorship, in-kind donations, and community program development. In the last eight years we have been able to provide the community with over 6million dollars in funding.

In 2013 we launched our annual “Come and Try” sports day. This event is aimed at encouraging families to try different sports, including hockey, soccer, rugby league, basketball and lawn bowls.  If sport is not your cup of tea, the club has a Community Garden for members to take part in. The Community Garden provides a healthy and happy hobby for all our members who enjoy gardening and socializing.

Community organisations that are seeking assistance with funding can go to the Community Grants Fund page on this website. This program dedicates $50,000 dollars to a fund that not-for-profit community groups can access and apply for grants of up to $5000.

The Brothers brand has a rich history in Rugby League and Brothers Leagues Club supports the code through in-kind donations and sponsorship. Grass-roots rugby league is at the heart of this club and each year we work towards growing the game throughout the community. We host many community focused activities such as the North Queensland Foley Shield Competition, ARL Foundation Cup, Laurie Spina Shield, Townsville Secondary Schools Rugby League Competitions, NASCA Challenge – 8 regional indigenous U15 teams sponsored by the Toyota Cowboys and the Pogue Cup – played between 2 Defense Force Army units. We also host the ‘All Blacks’ carnival taking place annually in October. It is run by the Bindall Sharks sports Club to help provide funds for the Bindall Rugby League club, an important fund raiser for the following year. These field activities would not take place without the playing infrastructure and field maintenance fully paid for by Brothers Leagues Club.

Other sporting codes which Brothers support through the provision of facilities and equipment include Touch Football, Soccer, Rugby Union and Cricket.

Please feel free to browse the other pages in our Community section of this website to find out more about how you can be apart of other Brothers community programs.
